Before tackling a roof leak, Hercules Roofing will determine the location and nature of the leak. Leak detection when the rafters and underside of your roof deck are not exposed, can be deceptive. The spot where water stains and dampness are present may be quite a distance from the actual roof damage.
Don’t risk your safety by climbing onto your roof in search of the source of a leak yourself. Hercules Roofing knows the tricks water can play. For example, water doesn’t run uphill, so leaks on a pitched roof can’t be lower than the evidence of the leak. Water can enter through exposed nail holes or a section of missing roof shingles. It can then travel over layers of roof and roofing felt until it reaches a gap where it can penetrate to the roof deck. From there, it may run over the plywood until it crosses a joint and then resume its journey along a rafter or on the underside of the decking.
